Talk By Ptolemy Dean:  Building New Communities in Canterbury:  What might the developers learn from Wye, Chilham and Chartham?

June 27 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm

Free

7.30 pm Tuesday 27 June at the Friends Meeting House, the Friars

Over the next ten years thousands of new homes are going to be built in Canterbury.  Is it possible to create good new communities in these developments?  Do the villages of the area offer any lessons about how to design a place where people enjoy living?  These and other questions will be considered in a talk to be given by Ptolemy Dean, the President of the Canterbury Society.

Ptolemy Dean is a distinguished conservation architect, who specialises in historic preservation, as well as in designing new buildings that are in keeping with their historic or natural settings.  He is also Surveyor of the Fabric of Westminster Abbey and is well known for his appearances on two BBC television series, Restoration and The Perfect Village.

Canterbury Society Civic Champion Award for 2017

This evening will also be the AGM of the Canterbury Society and the occasion for the presentation of the Canterbury Society Civic Champion Award for 2017.  Refreshments will be provided and everyone will be very welcome.
