Slatters Hotel

Archaeological investigations have started on the Slatters Hotel site, with high hopes of finding remarkable remains, as the Roman theatre lies at the junction of Watling Street, Castle Street and St. Margarets Street, and extends in part as far as the northwest corner of the site – although part is overlain by the listed building being renovated.

Anglo-Saxon remains also are expected to be unearthed. Six months has been allotted for the Canterbury Archaeological Trust to investigate the site.
