The countdown has begun for Riverfest 2026, a week-long celebration of the historic River Stour and some of its tributaries in East Kent running from September 20th to 27th, 2026.

This year, assistance of the administration of the popular community festival is being provided by Stour Valley Restore—a project operating under the Kentish Stour Countryside Partnership and generously funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund. Timed to coincide with World Rivers Day, the festival invites locals and visitors alike to explore the natural beauty and rich history of Kent’s second-longest waterway.

What to Expect
Riverfest 2026 will feature over 20 diverse community events designed to highlight and celebrate the habitats, species, landscapes, and cultural heritage of the Stour. Events include, guided bat and beaver walks, paddleboarding sessions, heritage and history days, arts activities, river dipping, talks and much more.

“This festival is all about bringing people together to appreciate and protect everything our historic waterway has to offer.” Helen Renny, Stour Valley Restore Development Officer
Thousands of visitor’s flock to the Kentish Stour each year to enjoy its scenic landscapes. Riverfest aims to deepen that connection through fun, educational, and engaging activities for all ages and hopefully leads to healthier river into the future.
