FILM ‘People’s Emergency Briefing’ Climate & Nature Crisis
We are excited to announce that Canterbury Society is hosting a screening of the People’s Emergency Briefing at 7pm-9pm on Monday 28th September. Following the screening, we will be facilitating an open discussion to allow people to process what they have heard and to positively engage about what we can do and what it means locally.
This eye-opening 50 minute film is based on the National Emergency Briefing in Westminster in November 2025 which brought together leading experts to present the latest evidence on the climate and nature crisis to politicians and other influential people in Westminster. The film features nine UK scientists and experts updating us on the latest in the climate and nature crisis and its impacts on everyday life. The film combines authoritative scientific content from the Westminster event with reactions from members of the public and some more familiar faces – designed to help audiences process the information on a more human level. It will deliver the frank facts about the threats, but also the enormous benefits if Government leads genuine emergency action. Featuring Chris Packham, Deborah Meaden, surprise guests, and a wide range of Brits.
The film is intended as a catalyst for wider public conversation across the UK, bringing together people from across local communities to hear the evidence and discuss how to respond. It is intended as a stepping stone towards a live televised national briefing, introduced by the Prime Minister and delivered by independent experts, so that the whole country can be fully informed about the risks we face and the solutions available.Based on expert advice from our partner the Climate Psychology Alliance, the recommended minimum age for this film is 16.
Please note: The film is only being shown at in-person screenings, not online. Bring a friend or neighbour and please book your free place asap:https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/film-peoples-emergency-briefing-climate-nature-crisis-tickets-1997553026876?aff=ebdssbdestsearch
