Heritage Open Days 2026
Heritage Open Days (HOD’s) is an annual celebration of England’s history and culture that allows visitors free access to heritage sites and community events that are not usually open to the public, or would normally charge an entrance fee, or that are putting on something special for the festival.
This year’s theme is “Everyday Histories,” focusing on exploring daily working life through the ages. The festival, taking place from September 11–20, 2026, will highlight stories of ordinary people and hidden histories and a variety of venues will be offering free entry to sites in Canterbury including old favourites as well as some new venues. Save the Dates!
Events will appear from now until the summer so please check their website regularly and before you attend any venues in case of any last minute changes.
For details of venues and dates / times please visit the HOD website at:-
If you wish to register a Venue or Event you can do this online on the national HOD website as above or if you need any help please contact the Canterbury Society’s HOD Coordinator Alex Irvine – alex.irvine@me.com.
