South East Water has published the latest presentation slides and draft meeting notes from the Broad Oak Water Stakeholder Advisory Group meeting held on 29 April 2026.

The documents are now available on the project website alongside materials from previous meetings, continuing the company’s commitment to maintaining a public record of discussions and project development.

The Broad Oak Water project represents one of the largest pieces of strategic water infrastructure currently being explored in East Kent. As the project develops, it is expected to raise significant questions around environmental impact, landscape change, biodiversity, public access, infrastructure resilience, and long-term growth planning across the district.

Environmental Impact Assessment Scoping Underway

One of the most important updates from the latest meeting is confirmation that South East Water submitted its Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Scoping Opinion in December 2025 to the relevant Local Planning Authorities, including:

  • Canterbury City Council
  • Thanet District Council
  • Dover District Council

According to South East Water, the purpose of the scoping process is to identify environmental issues early in the planning process and support decisions intended to avoid, reduce or mitigate impacts.

The associated planning documents can be viewed through Canterbury City Council’s planning portal under reference CA/25/02340
