Consultation Responses

This page sets out the Canterbury Society’s responses to public consultations and formal representations on issues affecting Canterbury and the wider district. Our focus is on planning, heritage, the public realm, culture, local democracy and quality of life.

We publish our responses so residents, councillors and officers can see what we say, when we say it, and why.

How we respond

When the Canterbury Society submits a response, we aim to:

  • focus on evidence and policy, not party politics
  • reference published data, adopted plans and statutory duties
  • reflect the long-term interests of Canterbury, not short-term gain
  • be clear where evidence is strong and where it is missing
  • publish what we submit, in full.

Our responses are agreed through the Society’s committee or relevant working groups.

Get involved

If you want to flag a consultation, share evidence, comment on a draft response, or even support our working groups with a consultation response you can contact us at:
chair@canterburysociety.org.uk

We cannot respond to every consultation, but we prioritise issues with strategic, civic or long-term impact on Canterbury.
